Mary Ernestine Holland, of 9298 Southwestern Blvd., passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Southampton Memorial Hospital East Pavilion. She was 78.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary Boone and Pamela, Levern and Evelyn Holland; six sons, Curtis (Rosalind), Stanley, Leonard, James, David and Keith Holland; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cherry Wiggins, Cornelia Jones (Hartwell) and Ellen Mitchell. She was predeceased by her husband, John Oliver Holland; two sons, Reginald and Wayne Holland; and two brothers, Paul and Eugene Boone.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home, 685 Carolina Road. A funeral of triumph will be held Monday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at Zion Christian Church, 5200 Quaker Drive, Suffolk. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family is receiving visitors at 9298 Southwestern Blvd.
