Horace P. Watkins, 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. He was native of Holland, Va., and had been a resident of Suffolk for more than 40 years.

He retired from Newport Shipbuilding after more than 30 years of service as a blacksmith and was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church.

He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lorine Watkins; two daughters, Ronda Wilson and Sabrina Watkins-Rock (Kevin), of Suffolk; one son, Donly Watkins, of Onancock; and two grandchildren, several other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Suffolk. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Shivers Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The family will be receiving friends at 5015 Westfalen Court, Suffolk.
