The Suffolk Humane Society will hold its third annual yard sale to raise funds for the Mutt Strut Dog Walk and Festival.

The sale will take place May 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and May 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at Sherwin Williams, 2432 Pruden Blvd.

It will feature furniture, baby clothes, toys, houseware items, seasonal merchandise and numerous other articles.

Yard sale chair Fran Duman said they also have a lot of very unusual items, such as alpaca rugs, for sale.

The items featured at the sale are donations acquired by Suffolk Humane over the past year.

Duman said attendees will find especially great deals on Sunday.

“Sunday will be a blow out sale,” she said.

The humane society has used the location for the past two years, but it has to vacate the unit by June 1, which means everything must go.

Duman said the society wants to get rid of as much as it can, so it won’t have to account for unsold items during the move.

“Some things will be ‘Yes, please, take it away,’” she said.

Duman said she encourages anyone hoping to help companion animals in Suffolk to come out to the sale.

“It all goes to the dogs and cats,” she said.

All of the proceeds from the yard sale will benefit the Mutt Strut Dog Walk and Festival on Sept. 18 at Sleepy Hole Park.

For the Mutt Strut, individuals and teams pledge to walk and raise money to benefit companion animals in the city.

Duman said any person or organization can sign up to be a part of the event, and she recommends interested parties sign up soon.
