Police are investigating an early-morning vehicle accident that left a Suffolk resident dead.

Teolinda K. Torres, 32, of the 2000 block of Nansemond Parkway, died at the scene.

The single-vehicle accident was reported just before 5 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 58, just east of the scales. Investigation revealed the vehicle, a 2000 Acura, ran off the road to the right, struck a ditch and then a tree.

Torres was the only person in the vehicle at the time. Officer J.E. Babor is the lead investigator on the case.
