Team Evolve brings home state title

Team Evolve’s seventh-grade Blue Team won the Virginia State Division II championship last weekend.
Team Evolve won its games by an average margin of 33 points and beat the Hampton Hoyas 53-33 in the championship game.
Jaquan Yulee averaged 18 points and seven rebounds a game. Kevin Davis Jr. averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Deshaun Wethington averaged 10 points and 10 assists a game. John Spearman averaged eight points and 15 rebounds. Kevin Davis Sr. coaches the Blue Team.
Seven more Team Evolve squads were in action in AAU state or super regional tournaments last weekend.
The third-grade Blue Team finished runner-up in the state tournament, losing in the championship game to the Virginia Panthers by three points. Team Evolve’s third-grade White Team competed in the same tournament.
Team Evolve fifth grade finished third in the state. Its only loss was to the eventual state champion, Richmond Metro.
Team Evolve’s sixth-grade team finished fourth in its state tournament. The White Team in the seventh-grade level won its pool before finishing fifth in the state.
Team Evolve’s ninth- and 10th-grade teams played in AAU Super Regional tournaments with the ninth-grade team taking third place and the 10th-grade team finishing third in Division I.
