Shake, Rattle and Roll at car show

Last year's Shake, Rattle and Roll car show featured antique cars of all shapes, sizes and colors, most with their hoods popped open to allow the public to view their shiny, refurbished innards. This year's car show is coming up Saturday.

If you choose downtown Suffolk this weekend, get ready to shake, rattle and roll at the annual car show.

The event honors the racers, records and fans of the quarter-mile concrete track at the Suffolk Airport. It includes exhibits from the former raceway in a Bill Gwyn Tribute Tent, special guest Brian Hankins and live music by FAB.

The show has been “Jack Approved” by Jack Redd, a renowned drag-racing news columnist. The very first “Jack Approved” drag meet took place at the Suffolk Raceway in 1967 under the ownership of Hank Hankins.
