On Thursday, May 26, 2011, our beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, Mother Mae Silver Moore, departed this life in Suffolk, Va. She was born in Maxton, N.C., on Feb. 9, 1923 to the late Mother Mattie Mabry and George Patterson. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eddie Silver; second husband, Sherman Moore; her sons, Henry Silver and Jackie Silver; a sister, Rosa Goodman; and a very special friend, Abbie Chalk.

Mother Moore was a current member of New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church in Suffolk, Va., and a former member of New Hope COGIC in Norfolk, Va. She served on the Mother’s Board many years. All her life, she loved her family. She had an undying love for all she knew; and all who knew her loved her for her strong will and outspoken spirit.

Remaining to cherish her memories: three sons, Herbert Silver (Mamie), of Norfolk, Va., Eddie Silver Jr. (Patricia), of Wesley Chapel, Fla., and Sylvester Silver (Linda), of Suffolk; two daughters, Betty Mae Harper and Mattie Jurlene Eley (Royal), all of Suffolk; 23 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren; a special family friend, Pastor Catherine B. Skinner; a special devoted caregiver, Carrie Ann Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, May 30, 2011, at New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church, officiated by Pastor Catherine Skinner. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at 10 a.m. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
