IWA puts two on first team all-state

Isle of Wight eighth-grader Bailey Key was named first team All-State this softball season as the Lady Charger shortstop. Key had the top batting average in the Metro Conference. Isle of Wight went undefeated in winning the Metro and finished second in the state.

Isle of Wight’s state runner-up softball team placed two players on the VIS (Virginia Independent Schools) Div. III First Team All-State Team.

Sophomore pitcher Hailey Glover and eighth grade shortstop Bailey Key made the top all-state team. Glover, from Carrollton, went 10-2 overall and undefeated against Metro Conference competition as the Lady Chargers won the season and tournament titles in the Metro. Glover had a 1.59 ERA. Key, from Suffolk, hit .491 to lead the conference and totaled 21 runs and 19 RBI.

Isle of Wight lost 5-0 to undefeated Kenston Forest in the state championship game.
