Arthur T. Person, 76, of 820 McKinley Ave., Suffolk, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Rocky Mount, N.C., and the son of the late David Lee Person and Maggie Johnson Person.

He retired from Tidewater Regional Transit after 25 years. He was a member of St. Mark AME Zion Church, where he was a preacher steward, chairman of the Steward Board, member of Trustee Board, Male Chorus and Class No. 2.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sallie B. Person, of Suffolk; one stepdaughter, the Rev. Felecia Johnson (Gregory), of Suffolk; one son, Willie Lee Bailey (Barbara), of Smithfield, Va.; one brother, Samuel Person Sr. (Louise), of Castilia, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Doreatha Person, of Hartsville, S.C., and Pearl V. Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at St. Mark AME Zion Church officiated by the Rev. Willmers Williams. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
