Caspari opens Suffolk center

A company that specializes in high-quality paper products for entertaining and gifts will open a warehousing and distribution center in Suffolk on Wednesday.
Following a 1 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, Caspari Inc. will open its new 60,762-square-foot facility at 5401 Virginia Regional Drive in Suffolk’s Virginia Regional Commerce Park, city officials announced on Tuesday.
Headquartered in Seymour, Conn., Caspari sells its products in exclusive stores worldwide, including Le Bon Marche, Harrods, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales, as well as from its own retail locations in Charlottesville and Paris.
Products listed on the company’s website include printed luxury paper tablecloths, napkins, plates and other entertainment- and party-related supplies; playing cards; desk and tabletop accessories; gifts, handkerchiefs and calendars.
The company was established in 1945 by H. George Caspari and originally was known for importing Christmas cards designed by European artists. Today, the company works with contemporary artists from around the world to produce products in 35 different categories.
The Suffolk facility will employ 35 people.
