A Suffolk woman has been found guilty of abusing her two young children last year.

Danielle Lynn Holland, 22, was arrested last year after a doctor found her baby boy had multiple broken bones and brain injury. Another of her four children had bruising around her eye, prosecutor Marie Walls said Tuesday.

Holland was found guilty of four counts of child abuse and neglect with serious injury. Each count carries a potential penalty of two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.

All four children have been removed from Holland’s care, Walls said. Two are staying with family members, and the other two are staying with a woman who has been “like a grandmother to them” since birth, Walls said.

The girl still is a little nervous when left with others, Walls said.

“She still has lingering effects, but is getting progressively better,” Walls said.

A doctor testified that the boy likely will recover fully from his broken bones, but it still is too soon to tell if there is any permanent damage from the brain injury.

“Because of his age, you can’t really measure the level of impairment” until he gets older, Walls said. “Unfortunately, it’s a gray area.”

Holland will be sentenced Sept. 9.
