SUFFOLK — Raymond Wiggins Jr., 73, of the 3300 block of Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, passed away June 23, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and son of the late Raymond Wiggins Sr. and Mary Urquhart Wiggins. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Wiggins.

Mr. Wiggins was retired from General Electric Company. He was a member of Rising St. James PHC, where he was formerly president of the Male Chorus and a Sunday school teacher.

He leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Pamela Reynolds (Marvin), Vontricia Farrell (Andre) and Arnetra Chapman; one stepdaughter, Faye Okola, all of Suffolk; seven sons, Gregory Clemons (Lillian), Tyrone Clemons (Valerie), Virgil Wiggins (Precena), Raymond Wiggins III (Tracy), Larry Jones, Dontre Wiggins and Marquese Madison, all of Suffolk; one sister, Kathleen Powell (Arthur), of Suffolk; 31 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Thurman Ward; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2011, at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries, 307 County St., officiated by Bishop Dwight Whitfield and Overseer Viola Parker. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
