Suffolk-based Team Evolve blew through its first two games in the group play part of the AAU Fifth Grade, Division II Girls Basketball National Championship Tournament Monday and Tuesday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton.

Team Evolve cruised to a 41-19 win over the New Hampshire Flames in its opening game Monday and proceeded to win its group with an even more lopsided win, a 49-9 win over Washington, D.C.’s Matrix Green

Team Evolve earned a bye through the first round of the championship bracket and faced the winner of a game between the Virginia Hurricanes and New Orleans Lady Trojans in a round of 16 contest Wednesday evening.

The National Championship Tournament continues Thursday and Friday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex.
