Suffolk police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting that landed one man in the hospital.

On July 3 about 4 a.m., police responded to the 1000 block of Clarys Drive, where a 21-year-old man was suffering from two gunshot wounds to his lower torso.

The victim told police he had been at a party and was sitting on his vehicle when he became involved in an altercation with a person who was passing by, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. The suspect then pulled a handgun and fired several times, striking the victim twice.

The man was taken by Nightingale air ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

There have been no arrests in the case, but police are following some leads, George said.
