A teen wanted in connection with a string of larcenies from vehicles surrendered to police on Monday.
Shai L. Winfield, 16, of the 6000 block of College Drive, was wanted on two counts of grand larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny, seven counts of entering a vehicle to commit a crime, three counts of petit larceny and three counts of attempted petit larceny.
Another suspect in the crimes, Kempton D. Whitney, 20, turned himself in on Friday. He faces similar charges, as well as a count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to city spokeswoman Debbie George, police received a call Tuesday morning informing them that two males had been observed entering vehicles in the Burbage Grant community. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
A description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast, however, and police stopped the vehicle a short distance from the scene. Two males fled on foot during the stop. Items located in the suspect vehicle had been stolen from cars in the community.
According to George, neither suspect is charged in about 40 other similar incidents in nearby neighborhoods.
