Bracey Drive fire extinguished

Suffolk firefighters were called to a fire Sunday in the 1000 block of Bracey Drive, where they found several outbuildings and storage containers on fire. They quickly extinguished the flames, a city spokeswoman said.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue investigators are looking into a weekend fire that caused minor damage to a house and destroyed several outbuildings.

Firefighters were called to the 1000 block of Bracey Drive just before 2 p.m. Sunday for a report of smoke inside a residence.

Upon arrival, the crews found several outbuildings and storage containers in flames. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control with minimal damage to the house.

No one was home when the fire started and no injuries were reported. Damage to the home is estimated at about $2,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office.
