Former Nansemond-Suffolk softball star Brittany Wilkins hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to help the Virginia Legends to a 6-5 win over the Virginia Pride of Roanoke in the championship game of the ASA (Amateur Softball Association) 23-and-under Eastern Division National Championship on Sunday in Roanoke.

Wilkins is a rising senior third baseman/catcher at Boston College. Wilkins hit 13 home runs for the Eagles this spring, coming within one homer of matching the BC school single-season record and placing fourth for the year in the ACC. She also hit .317 with 32 runs and 30 RBI while starting all 46 BC games.

The Virginia Legends went 4-0 in the three-day tournament. The Legends are a summer squad with, aside from Wilkins, college players from Florida, Florida State, Florida International, South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Louisiana-Lafayette.
