Suffolk police have arrested a man accused of following a woman home from a local pool and raping her.

Xavier Lamar Harris, 40, is charged with rape, object sexual penetration, abduction with intent to defile, forcible sodomy and breaking and entering with intent to commit rape.

The alleged incident occurred on Sunday around 7:30 p.m., city spokeswoman Debbie George said. The victim reported she met a man at the community pool who then followed her home, forced his way into the residence and sexually assaulted her.

Harris is being held in Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond, George said.
