Clarine E. Holland, 83, of 2304 Manning Road, Suffolk, Va., died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Gates, N.C., and the daughter of the late Donnie Eley and Gladys Gatling Eley. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Holland, and a son, Robert Lewis Holland.

She retired as a seamstress at Progressive Cleaners. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where she was an usher.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Brenda Hall; four sons, Randolph Holland (Jacqueline), William Holland, Milton Holland (Fannie) and Clyde Holland (Joyce), all of Suffolk; three sisters, Helda Newsome, of Norfolk, Va., Thelma Smith (Johnnie), of Cleveland, Ohio, and Norris Copeland (Horace), of Suffolk; three brothers, Leo Eley (Emily), of Portsmouth, Va.,, Frank Eley, of Norfolk, and Jobie Eley (Shirley), of Upper Marlbaro, Md.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 1656 Copeland Road, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Ernest Simmons Jr. Interment will be in Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at 2304 Manning Road, Suffolk, each day after 4 p.m. until the service. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
