Nelson Dutton Linaburg, 86, of Suffolk, passed away on Aug. 12, 2011. A native of Berryville, Va., he was the son of the late Howard and Nellie Carpenter Linaburg. He was the Director of Music at Wycliff Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach for many years. Nelson was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk, where he served as choir director and organist before going to Wycliff. He was a longtime member of the American Guild of Organists, where he served as Dean of the Norfolk Chapter; taught organ and piano lessons at his private studio; and was a member of the Board of Sundays at Four.
He is survived by his brothers, Holmes Linaburg, of Clearbrook, Va., and Ralph Linaburg, of Winchester, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Myrtle F. Hatcher and the Rev. Skip Irby officiating. Burial will be private in Winchester, Va. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to The Nelson Linaburg Young Musicians Support Fund — Sundays at Four, P.O.
