Vickey Mae Downing, of 113 S. 7th St., Suffolk, Va., died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at CHC of Windsor, Va. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of Marion Downing and the late Fred Downing.

She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and attended Norfolk State College. She was employed at Lawrence Grocery Store.

Besides her mother, Marion Downing, she leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, Vernon Lee Downing, of Windsor, Va.; one aunt; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held at noon, Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
