Norfolk edges Lady Storm

The Suffolk Lady Storm rallied from behind in the fourth quarter to take the lead but wound up with a 32-28 loss to Norfolk in the first game of the Optima Girls Basketball Fall League on Saturday in Norfolk.

Suffolk trailed by 11 in the fourth period before storming back to take a momentary 26-25 lead with less than two minutes to play.

Suffolk had the ball with the one-point edge before a steal and fast-break lay-up by Norfolk with 1:14 left. Norfolk led the rest of the way.

Harper Birdsong led the Lady Storm with 20 points and five rebounds. Briana Autry had five steals and Kara Lyles had four blocked shots.

Suffolk’s next game is against Hampton on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Clarence Cuffee Center in Chesapeake.
