Vandals attack Robertson school

Just a week after the Suffolk School Board approved a resolution to transfer the former Robertson Elementary School to the city, police are investigating a massive vandalism there.
Sometime Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, one or more suspects entered the building and carried out several destructive acts, according to city spokeswoman Debbie George.
The suspects shattered light bulbs and windows, sprayed fire extinguishers, dumped and spread boxes of paperwork, overturned a 55-gallon drum of old cooking oil and smashed pumpkins in the front entryway, George said.
The vandalism was discovered when someone checked on the building, George said. Because the approved transfer has not actually occurred yet, the building and land still belong to the School Board.
