Church to hold tent revival

Liberty Baptist Church is hoping the entire community comes to its revival Sept. 25-28.
But this isn’t just any old revival. The event is an “old-fashioned tent revival” featuring the regionally famous revivalist Jon Cash.
Mike Boger, who has helped organize the revival, said he hopes the entire community will come.
“We’re trying to get it outside the church,” he said. “We’re looking forward to scads of people coming.”
Boger said the church has pulled together to make the revival happen after his Sunday school class came up with the idea.
His Sunday school class was going through a curriculum called “Experiencing God,” which challenges the students to “do something God-sized with their faith,” Boger said.
The class decided it wanted to put together an old-fashioned tent revival with Jon Cash. When they approached the acting pastor about the idea, they discovered the pastor had already had the same idea. Cash was already scheduled to be at the church the exact weekend the class wanted to hold their revival.
“It was cool to have all this fit together,” Boger said. “It was a pretty good indication this was God’s will.”
Various members of the church have stepped up to help pay for the tent rental, advertising and other necessities, Boger said.
“I could just go on and on with the stories of how people have stepped up,” Boger said. “Pretty much everybody has filled all the holes where God wanted them to serve.”
Boger has invited local Christian motorcycle clubs, ministries and nursing homes. Tuesday will be a special night for senior citizens, with vans running to local nursing homes to pick up anyone who wants to come.
“I’ve never been to a revival that did that,” Boger said.
The revival will be held Sept. 25-28 at 6:30 p.m. each night at the church, 116 Romans Road.
