Manganese tints city water

Because of an issue with increased manganese in water coming from Portsmouth’s Lake Kilby Plant, some Suffolk water customers will notice that their water has a pale yellow tinge during the next few days.
According to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George, the city of Portsmouth has taken steps to correct the problem, but it will take some time for the water in the system to clear.
George stated in a press release that there are no health risks associated with the problem.
Areas served by that plant include the downtown Suffolk area, north to the Route 58 Bypass, east to Nansemond Parkway and south along Route 58 and Carolina Road.
