Tattoo shop to get review

The owner of a Portsmouth Boulevard tattoo parlor hopes to open another one on North Main Street.
The conditional use permit request for the shop will come before the Planning Commission in its Tuesday meeting.
The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. in City Council chambers, 441 Market St.
Jason Fulford, owner of Tattoo Skills at 1008 Portsmouth Blvd., is applying for the second location of his shop, to be called Tattoo Skills Too. The Portsmouth Boulevard location became Suffolk’s first tattoo shop when it opened in 2009.
The commission will hold a public hearing on the application.
Also on the commission’s agenda is a preliminary subdivision plat for 121 parcels of land for residential development at the current end of Davis Boulevard, which runs off of White Marsh Road.
The development was approved by City Council in October 2009. At the time, it was planned to include 111 single-family homes and 197 townhouses.
Other items on the agenda include a request for a new telecommunications tower near the Suffolk Executive Airport and changes to the floodplain maps.
A decision on the flood maps was delayed last month after a dozen concerned property owners showed up to protest their properties’ inclusion in the floodplain and the way the process was handled — specifically, that they were not told sooner that their property could be affected until after the new maps were drawn.
