Fern Machelle Lassiter, 44, of 409 Morton St., in Franklin, Va., was selected to go to Heaven on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011. Fern was born on Feb. 4, 1967, in Holland, Va., to Clara C. Lassiter.

She was a graduate of Forest Glen High School in 1985. She then furthered her education at Kee Business College to become a CNA. After becoming a CNA, she then enrolled at New Horizons to become a LPN. She was employed at Providence Place of Maryview and Lake Prince Woods.

Fern is survived by her children, Shanea L. Copeland, of Franklin, Va., and Dazzamon J. McClendon, of Franklin; one goddaughter, Kimberly D. Holland; fiancée, John Calvin Faison, of North Carolina; two brothers, Fernando M. Lassiter (Lisa), of Suffolk, and Frederick M. Lassiter (Stephanie), of Franklin; one sister, Frenicka M. Lassiter, of Suffolk; two uncles, five aunts, five nephews, six nieces; two devoted friends, Alesia Rawls and Earnestine Mallory; other relatives and many friends.

The homegoing service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Pulaski Baptist Church officiated by Dr. R.E. Rodgers. Interment will be in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. A wake will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Crocker Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
