Two Suffolk men face a series of felony charges following a traffic stop Tuesday morning for a couple of minor infractions.

Travis Deshaun Clark, 23, of the 700 block of Ashley Ave. and Gary Lewis Blount, 26, of S. 5th St., were in a vehicle stopped for improper display of a license tag and invalid state inspection, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George.

Police noticed an array of stolen items in the back seat and the trunk of their vehicle, George stated in a press release on Wednesday. After looking around the immediate area, police then found that a business’ shed had been burglarized on the 400 block of Carolina Road, George stated in a press release.

The owner of the business was called to the scene and identified the items as belonging to the business.

Blount had fled the vehicle when it was stopped, but police were able to identify him and make an arrest later in the day, George stated.

Both men were charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony, grand larceny, larceny with Intent to sell, and possession of burglary tools.
