The fifth annual Art d’Vine helped raise thousands of dollars Friday evening for the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts.

About 150 people attended the fundraising event, which last year brought in about $50,000.

Betsy Brothers bids on a silent auction item at Art d’Vine on Friday evening. The event raised thousands of dollars for the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts.

“We hope we’ll do that well tonight,” said Jack Eure, president of the center’s Foundation Board of Directors.

The arts center sold tickets and put dozens of items up for live and silent auctions to raise money. The event featured food and wine of America’s Northwest.

“We heard this is a wonderful place to support the arts in Suffolk,” said Eugene Winston. “The wine is complementing everything — the conversation, the food, the dessert.”

Sharyn Flintoff, vice president of the Foundation Board and one of the co-chairs for the event, said they had been happy with ticket sales.

“We’re very happy about the numbers,” she said. “People are so kind and generous to give us the best pieces to auction off.”

Various auction items included many pieces of artwork, handmade scarves, gift cards to local restaurants, rounds of golf and more.

Auctioneering services were provided by Barry Cole of United Country A.B. Cole and Associates Auction and Realty.

“We’ll try to excite them as much as we can,” he said before the auction.

The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, in the restored Suffolk High School, presents shows, hosts art exhibits and other events and provides numerous arts education programs for children and adults.
