Saints blow out Patriots for 2nd win

Nansemond-Suffolk scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters to gain a 42-0 lead over the Metro Conference’s Patriots and make it back-to-back wins for the Saints (2-4).
Jack Russell started the scoring with a 20-yard touchdown run. Later in the opening period, Ryan Serianni picked up Jared Morse’s blocked punt and went 30 yards for a touchdown.
In the second quarter, two-way lineman/fullback David Gough ran for a 40-yard touchdown and a 1-yard touchdown. NSA held a 28-0 halftime lead. Bobby Lamm wound up 6-for-6 kicking extra points.
Brandon Addison led nine Saint rushers with 47 yards. Tim Burns was 3-for-3 for 60 yards passing. A.J. Hicks notched 3.5 sacks. Michael Tyler Lepore caught two passes on offense and made an interception.
Nansemond-Suffolk hosts Tidewater Conference rival Norfolk Academy on Friday at 7 p.m.

The visiting Braves got their first win of the season at the expense of the Warriors (3-3, 2-3).
NR’s Stevon Simms returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. Simms has kick return touchdowns in each of the last two NR games.
The Warrior offense went on to total 225 rushing yards and 15 first downs but only three more points.
Roger Hall’s 5-yard touchdown run gave Indian River a 12-10 lead with 6:55 left in the game.
Nansemond River travels to face Great Bridge on Friday at 7 p.m.
