Priscilla Josephine Major Mizell, of 2360 Lake Cohoon Road, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011.

She was a native of Columbia, N.C., and obtained her formal education in the Tyrrell County Public School District. She was predeceased by her parents, Jerry M. Major and Mamie L. Major; her beloved husband, Jonah B. Mizell Sr.; her sisters, L. Gertrude Spencer and Lenora A. Spruell; her brothers, Richard F. Major, John R. Major (Doris), and James A. Cooper; her daughter, Joanne Knight (Thomas); and her sons, Michael S. Mizell and Alonzo C. Mizell.

Her survivors include her daughters, Janette Mizell and Precena C. Wiggins (Virgil); a stepdaughter, Mary V. Copeland (Larry); her sons, Milton F. Mizell (Marilyn), Jonah B. Mizell Jr. (Gloria), and Steve W. Mizell; her sister, Vivian L. Mizell; her aunt, Martha L. Mizell; and a brother-in-law, George L. Reid Sr.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was a member of Word for Living Full Gospel Fellowship Center, where she served faithfully in a number of capacities.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at 1 p.m. at New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministries with Elder David D. Williams officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon for viewing. The family will receive relatives and friends at her residence. Professional services have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
