A Lakeland High School student was suspended and faces expulsion for having a weapon at school Friday.

A small knife, with a blade about two inches long, was found in the 14-year-old student’s backpack, said Bethanne Bradshaw, a spokeswoman for Suffolk Public Schools.

She added the student did not make any threats, and there were no other details about how the knife was found or why the student brought it to school.

The student has been suspended and recommended for expulsion.
