Randolph J. Joyner, 63, of 225 Hunter St., Suffolk, Va., died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Peter and Flossie Joyner.
He was a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School and was in the Air Force. He attended Tidewater Community College in Portsmouth, Va. Randolph retired from Waste Management of Hampton Roads. He was a member of New Life Church in Franklin, Va., and was a member of its Men’s Fellowship.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Brenda M. Joyner; two daughters, Janell M. Wilson (Curtis), of Chesapeake, Va., and
Shawanda Turner, of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sons, Randolph T. Joyner, of Ticonderoga, N.Y., Calvin Strothers (LaTonya), of Jacksonville, Fla., Lamont Strothers (Adria), of Newport News, Va.; eight aunts, Virginia Joyner, Virginia Porter, Maggie Thomas, Carolyn Ford, Ann Joyner, Laverne Joyner, Margaret Stephenson and Lucy Eley; five uncles, Raymond Nelson, Otis Joyner, Joe Joyner, Earl Robertson and George Eley; a nephew, Lamont Joyner; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at New Life Church in Franklin officiated by Bishop-Elect Sherry Saunders. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
