Quintin L. Deloatch of Suffolk departed this earthly life on Nov. 5, 2011, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born on Sept. 15, 1963, to Helen Deloatch and the late Robert Lee Elner. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Deloatch and paternal grandparents, Willie Ray and Novella Elner.

Quintin enjoyed his family and was the family grillmaster.

Besides his mother, Helen Deloatch Wright, he is survived by his daughter Shawntierra Waters of Suffolk; his sisters Regina Elner of Atlanta, Ga., Chief Samantha Harrell (Kenny) of Washington, D.C., and Kim Washington of Portsmouth; brothers Reginald Davis (Pat), Gene Washington (Shawanda) of Suffolk, Robert Elner Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Travis Washington of Portsmouth; godbrothers Tavarez Horton of Suffolk and James Brown of Chesapeake; maternal aunts, Ada Deloatch Elner (George), Barbara Harris (Alphonso), and Evelyn Deloatch, all of Suffolk, and Gloria Joseph (Jesse) of Chesapeake; paternal aunt, Martha Collins of Suffolk; uncles Leroy Deloatch of Suffolk, Anthony Deloatch of Sicklerville, N.J.; special cousin Joseph Collins; devoted friend Terry Thorne; and other relatives and friends.

A home-going service will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 12, 2011, at Poplar Run Baptist Church, Bennetts Pasture Road, with Pastor Alexander Cheatam officiating. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at 517 Osceola Ave., Suffolk.
