Lady Saints finish fast at states

Nansemond-Suffolk freshman Maya Venkataraman finished eighth in the state and the Lady Saint cross country team finished sixth in the 47th Annual VISSA (Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association) Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Woodberry Forest School.
Both Nansemond-Suffolk squads competed in the Division 2 half of the championships.
Venkataraman, sophomore Darcy King, eighth-grader Katey King, sophomore Macy Mears and senior Kelly Wild made up the Lady Saint team score.
Senior Reid Williams, finishing 75th, led NSA’s boys team.
Walsingham senior Adam Link won the individual boys championship in a time of 17:24, 10 seconds faster than Veritas Christian eighth-grader Miles Clikeman.
Peninsula Catholic freshman Martine Hunnicutt won the girls title in 20:12.
