On Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, God, in His infinite wisdom and power, decided it was time to call home his beloved daughter Willie Mary Cross.

Mrs. Cross was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Suffolk to the late Sidney and Arizona Jones. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Willie Mary retired from the Suffolk school system and was a member of First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, Suffolk.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Rudolph V. Cross Sr.; six children, Saundra Cooper of Newport News, Richard (Cathy) Williams of Suffolk, Rudolph Jr. (Phyllis) Cross of Rockledge, Fla., Sheryl Hutchison of Norfolk, Miles (Mary) Cross of Portsmouth, and Tony (Renika) Green of Courtland; two sisters, Janice (James) Parker of Suffolk and Doretha Holland of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A wake will be held on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home, Inc., 900 E. Washington St., Suffolk. The home-going celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 112 Mahan St., Suffolk. Dr. Steven Blunt will officiate.
