Shirley V. Wellons, 68, was born on Aug. 23, 1943, to the late Johnnie and Girlie Collins in Smithfield, Va. She went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011.

Shirley was the widow of the late Hurley Wellons. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Woodson and Emma Darden; one son, Christopher Vaughan; six sisters; one brother; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

A visitation will be held at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, Nov. 18 between the hours of 1 and 7 p.m. A graveside celebration service will be held at New Jones Grove Baptist Church in Windsor on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m.
