Several juveniles and an 18-year-old were arrested this week when an investigation into break-ins in the Burbage Grant area led to the recovery of stolen merchandise from several area stores.
Police were investigating the break-ins and developed some suspects, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. When they went to place the two 15-year-olds under arrest, there was a third 15-year-old with them who had some merchandise that was allegedly stolen from Walmart, Kohl’s and Dick’s Sporting Goods, George said.
The initial two suspects were charged with two burglaries and taken to Chesapeake Juvenile Services. The third teenager will be charged with the shopliftings, George said.
In addition, 18-year-old Jazmen Keel of the 3700 block of Woodmere Drive is charged with two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, George said. Police say she attempted to sell some of the property taken in the burglaries.
