Ms. Virginia E. Doughty of Riddick Drive, Suffolk, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk, Va., and was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Bertha Goodman. Virginia was an active member of Tabernacle Christian Church and was retired from Suffolk Public Schools.

Virginia is survived by her aunt, Helena Goodman, of Suffolk; niece, Tarsha Brown (Orlando); brother, Chester Williams; sister, Earlene Williams, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a special godson, Devann Lewis and Sisters from the Heart caretakers, Shirley Barnes and Almeta Smith. She will be lovingly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral of triumph will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle Christian Church. Bishop Carlton Upton Sr. will be officiating. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be at Harris Funeral Home, Inc. 685 Carolina Road, Suffolk, on Friday, Dec. 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. The Suffolk Chapter of Las Amigas, Inc. will hold a memorial service and wake on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Tabernacle Christian Church, 2500 E. Washington St., Suffolk from 6 to 7 p.m.
