Gladys Marie Warren Jones, age 91, died Dec. 7, 2011, in Suffolk. She was a native of Windsor, Va.

Marie was a member of Suffolk Christian Church and the West Memorial Bible Class. She also served on the Sanctuary Guild. She was an active member of the Saints Alive Fellowship group at the church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the daughter of Joseph Wesley Warren and Jesse Lee Stephenson. She was also predeceased by a son, Robert E. Jones; sisters, Marybelle Stephenson, Virginia Williams and Martha Warren; and brothers, Paul S. Warren, John Wesley Warren and Seward Warren.

Marie is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin W. and Evelyn W. Jones, Daniel T. and Susan J. Jones, and Randy M. and Linda M. Jones, all of Suffolk; eight grandchildren, Jane-Marie and Ryan Wieck, Jennifer and Joshua Worrell, Wesley and Rebecca Jones, Jobi Jones, Randall Jones, Mandy Spivey, Jonathan Fitzgerald, Sarah and Dewey Salter; and 11 great-grandchildren, Aidan, Brady and Cailey Wieck, Cameron and Chloe Worrell, Whitney and Julie Jones, Tessa Johnson, Devin Fitzgerald, and Tres and Leyton Salter. She is also survived by two special nieces, Marie and Brenda Stephenson.

Marie was a member of Whaleyville Chapter 137 Order of the Eastern Star.

Marie retired as a school bus driver for Suffolk Public Schools in 1998, and is fondly remembered by all of the kids she transported for 45 years. She also worked for the Palace and Chadwick Theaters and the Plantation Drive-In for numerous years. She loved horses and was an avid horse woman most of her life.

The family would like to thank the staff of Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the love and care given their mom during her time with them.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Suffolk Christian Church, with the Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. A private burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery immediately following the reception. Friends may join the family Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co.
