Suffolk police are seeking an unknown suspect in an armed robbery that happened early Friday morning.

The suspect kicked in the rear storm door of a home in the 400 block of Woodruff Street shortly after midnight, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.

The kick caused damage to the door, but the suspect was not able to gain entry into the house. The resident went outside to find out what was going on.

He was approached by a man wearing a ski mask and gray hooded jacket, George said. The man had a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect fled when the victim ran back into the house.
