William David Lonberger went to be with our Lord on Dec. 10, 2011 in Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va., surrounded by family. He has suffered from Parkinson’s disease for more than 25 years.

He was born in Suffolk, Va., on Aug. 10, 1943, and was the son of the late William Washington Lonberger and Martha Butler Lonberger of Smithfield, Va.

Bill was a member of Harrisonburg Baptist Church, Harrisonburg, Va., and a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosemary Holland Lonberger; daughter Karen L. Hart and son-in-law John S. Hart Jr., of Harrisonburg, Va. He is also survived by his precious granddaughters, Kathryn Hart, Madelyn Hart and Margaret Rose Hart. Surviving also are his brother, Al S. Lonberger and wife, Debra, of Smithfield, Va. Also surviving are his brothers-in-law R. Mark Holland, William Burrell Holland Jr. and wife, Frances, of Courtland, Va. He is also survived by five nephews and three nieces, Steve Lonberger, David Lonberger, Will Lonberger, Charity Lonberger, William B. Holland III, Joseph Holland, Dawn Holland Evans and Misty Holland Fisher. He is also survived by a special aunt, Elizabeth Lonberger Daniero, of Richmond, Va. Preceding him in death were twin daughters and brother-in-law, Richard H. Holland.

Bill graduated from Smithfield High School in Smithfield, Va., and worked for 15 years in the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company. He later was owner and operator for GTL Transport in Suffolk, Va.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Harrisonburg Baptist Church at 10 a.m. by Dr. Jack Mercer. Burial and graveside service will take place immediately following the service at 3:30 p.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk, Va., by the Rev. Jim George of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Visitation in Suffolk will be at Parr Funeral Home following the burial from 4 to 6 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the Lonberger home, 478 Spring Oaks Drive, Harrisonburg, Va., Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m.
