Point guard Dontrell Brite had 10 points, eight steals and seven assists. Center Daniel Wallace had 10 rebounds and six blocks. The Warriors forced 28 Deep Creek turnovers.

“We looked much better scoring the basketball tonight, but we will get even better because our defense will get better to give us those easy points we need,” said Nansemond River head coach Ed Young.

“I’m really tickled for John Joyce. He needed a game like this,” Young said.

The Warriors travel to play Hickory Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors and Hawks split their match-ups last season with Hickory’s win being its first ever against the Warriors.
