Stephen Albert Laine, 50, of Suffolk, Va., passed away Dec. 13, 2011. He was born in Norfolk, Va., the son of Anita Baker Laine and the late James Cobb Laine Sr. He was a 1979 graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and 1983 graduate of James Madison University. He worked in sales and was active in his children’s lives, coaching for various baseball, basketball and football teams.

Stephen is survived by his mother; daughter, Stephanie Laine; sons, Jacob Laine, both of Suffolk, Andrew Thomas Nash and wife, Chelsea, of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Emily and Kaleb Nash; sisters, Lisa Laine Facenda (Jeff), Holly Laine Saunders (William), both of Suffolk; brother, James Cobb Laine Jr. (Sally), of Charleston, W.Va.; aunt, Gail Baker Taylor (Vernon); one niece and three nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Woodland United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Friends may join the family Sunday for visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, Va.
