Dorothy Vann Rawls, 79, of Suffolk, Va., passed away Dec. 17, 2011. She was born in Gates, N.C., the daughter of the late Edith Bundy Vann and Will Vann. She is also predeceased by her husband, Clyde W. Rawls. Dorothy was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church and the Eleanor Russell Sunday School Class.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dave Merinar; sons and daughters-in-law, Wilson Rawls, David and Kathy Rawls, Steve Rawls, Reggie and Lisa Rawls; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Cypress Chapel Christian Church, 1891 Cypress Chapel Road, Suffolk, VA 23434 with Pastor Chris Surber officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434, and other times at the home of David and Kathy Rawls.
