James Jones Jr., 77, passed away on Dec. 18, 2011, at his residence. He was born on Feb. 7, 1934, to James Jones Sr. and Mildred L. Delk in Isle of Wight County, Va.

He graduated from Isle of Wight County Training School in 1954 and Norfolk State College in 1956. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1958 and was a member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge 96 of Windsor.
James leaves behind cherished memories to his devoted wife, Mildred Odell (Deloatch) Jones; children, James Jones III (Laverne), Sophia L. Jones, Terrence D. Jones (Betty) and D’Army L. Jones; foster children, Michael Campbell, Patricia Briggs and Selena Askew; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many family and friends.
Mr. Jones will be on view at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 21 between the hours of noon and 7 p.m., and the family will greet guests between 5 and 7 p.m. A funeral service will take place at Chapel Grove United Church of Christ on Thursday, Dec. 22, at noon, and he will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
