Lloyd Herman Gray Jr. passed away on Dec. 20, 2011, at the age of 67.

Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Jean Phelps and Lloyd Herman Gray Sr., and his brother, Steve Gray. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Lloyd was retired for three years after more than 40 years of service with the telephone industry. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Lloyd had a passion for fishing and spending weekends on the Outer Banks.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Sarah H. Gray; his children, Teresa Dewell, of Oxford, N.C., Carl D. Gray and wife, Nancy, of Chesapeake, Va., and Sarah Chipman, and husband, Jason, of Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren; Russ Jones, Christopher Dewell, Wesley Gray, Matthew Gray, Paige Gray, Jake Chipman and Alex Chipman; great-granddaughter, Riley; and sister-in-law, Rita Drier.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Stewart McCarter in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434 with burial at Holly Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, from 7 to 8 p.m. at funeral home.
