Hopeful New Year’s Eve revelers already are starting to form their plans to ring in 2012.
Events are taking place all over Suffolk that will include plenty of food, entertainment and, of course, a champagne toast at midnight.
Proprietors of the newly renovated Obici House hope that partygoers will choose to start a new tradition this year at the historic home.
“It’s very exciting,” said Rhonda Rowe, director of the Obici House. “Being a new venue, we just thought we would try it out to see what the response would be.”
Rowe said there has been a lot of interest so far, but there’s still room for more reservations.
The event at the former estate of Amedeo Obici, now located at Sleepy Hole Golf Course, will feature a five-course meal, a disc jockey, karaoke, dancing and a champagne toast at midnight. It will last from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission is $75, and reservations must be made by Wednesday.
“So far we’ve had a great response,” Rowe said. “We’re hoping to make this a tradition for the Obici House.”
Bennett’s Creek Restaurant and Marina will hold its New Year’s Eve bash from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The event will include a disc jockey playing all varieties of music and a champagne toast.
In Smithfield, the Smithfield Woman’s Club is holding its second New Year’s Eve gala at the Smithfield Center after a successful inaugural event last year.
“We’re trying to build on it each year,” said Sharon Ewell, chairman of the event. “It’s a service to the community, but it’s sponsored by the women’s club.”
The event begins at 8 p.m. and lasts until 12:30 a.m. It will feature a live band, dinner stations, a silent auction and the Times Square festivities projected onto a big screen. The theme is “Central Park Under the Stars.”
All the proceeds will be used for the various charities that the women’s club sponsors, Ewell said. Tickets are $75.
