Suffolk police on Thursday charged a 29-year-old Suffolk man with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after he allegedly left his 2-year-old in the car while he went inside to buy liquor.

Jacob Taylor Rice was charged Thursday, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.

According to George, officers responded to the 800 block of West Constance Road when a lieutenant observed a Ford Mustang GT parked in the fire lane outside the ABC store.

Upon investigation, the officer found a 2-year-old child inside and the engine running, George said.

Rice “stated he just ran in to get some liquor,” George said.

Child Protective Services was notified of the incident, she added.
