Lucille Hancock Dilday, 98, widow of Cedric Howard Dilday, died peacefully on the morning of Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, in Knoxville, Tenn.
A native of Sedley and a former resident of Suffolk, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lafayette Hancock Jr. and Mary Ernie Johnson Hancock and was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert L. Hancock III, Harry Lee Hancock and Garth Stuart Hancock.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Cedric Howard Dilday Jr. of Rome, Italy, Mary Lou “Kitty” Corbett of Johnston, S.C., and Roberta Galante of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Michael Galante and Nicole Galante; her sister, Jackie Hancock Shearin of Courtland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dilday’s funeral will be held on her 99th birthday, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Randy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Courtland.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Jan. 4, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the home of Jackie Shearin, 23498 Jerusalem Road, Courtland.
